Who are the Khedive Chevys?

The Khedive Chevys are comprised of an enthusiastic group of Nobles who have dedicated themselves to service and support of our amazing philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children. Founded in the 1990s, the original unit commenced as the “Khedive Camaros” and the mission was the same then as it is now. The Camaros are based on the 1969 Z-28 on a custom built go-kart chassis. The Nobles of the Khedive Camaros have a rich history, and the unit has gone through more than a few changes over the years, but the focus on fun and fellowship has remained the same.

In the summer of 2020, amidst all of the apocalyptic doom and gloom, rather than hunker down and wait for the end, the unit strove to keep moving and improving. We had an opportunity to purchase the inventory and cars from the former “Corvette Unit.” Seeing this as a fantastic way to bring in more members and gain exposure, the membership of the Camaros voted to complete the transaction. A change to the by-laws was approved by the Divan and we made everything official. With the addition of 8 more Corvettes to the unit, a name change was voted on and we officially changed our name to the “Khedive Chevys.” Almost as fast as we completed the transaction, the cars were acquired and we expanded our unit’s membership by almost double!

Built on the body design of the “C3” Corvettes of the late 70s, these babies really do fly! The horsepower to weight ratio on these carts makes them pretty impressive, and it is unclear whether it is the limitations of the car or the nerves of the driver as to how fast it will actually run. It has been reported that at least one of these cars was clocked at almost 50 mph!
