Khedive Chevy Shriers

Well, the year is rapidly coming to a close and we have been working on a number of things to keep the membership active and engaged while also finding creative ways to raise funds and support our temple.   As mentioned previously, we have absorbed the former Corvette unit, and the membership voted to change our name to “Khedive Chevys.”   We are excited to continue growing the unit and getting the message out there, and we have added a handful of new members in the last few months, including 4 more from the most recent ceremonial.  With that said, we always have room for more and if you would like to see what we’re all about, without the full commitment of purchasing a car, we would love to welcome you as an associate member.  As a matter of fact, our very own Illustrious Sir Bill Hoggard has joined our ranks as an associate member.  Reach out to any of us for more details!

We participated in the Virginia Peanut Festival Parade in Emporia in September and were excited to be back out there with the various other units from the temple.  The brand new “Camaro Recovery Unit” wrecker was put into use straight away, thanks to Noble Wesley Peoples and what we believe to a stuck clutch on Noble Kevin Cooke’s car, but the crowd seemed to be quite entertained by it all, and everyone still had a good time.

The unit sold a fair share of Sportsman’s raffle tickets, and we even set up with one of the Camaros at Bass Pro Shops in Hampton where a few tickets were also sold while being visible in the community over there.  A raffle for a “Basket of Cheer” was put together and has been a success.  This will allow us to give back to the temple in a more liberal way than in years past, and we are grateful for the opportunity to do so.  Second Lieutenant Kenny Leter has started to put together a fundraiser for next year, and while details and specifics are still in the planning phase, we believe it is going to be quite an event and we are all working diligently behind the scenes to bring this project to fruition.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you in the New Year and we are confident that it is going to be a great one!
